Bit by bit

Going online! ...Sorta.

It's been a few days since I started the construction of OrionStation¹ and my own personal capsule (docked at the station). I don't have a lot of experience hosting servers nor do I know much about networking, but I march on. This project has already been a great learning experience.

The right tools for the job

The first server software that seemed usable for a newbie was Agate, the simple server. Turns out that for the purposes of a regular/static capsule, it is just the thing. But my ambitions seem to be greater than it's capabilities.

I'll be studying other gemini-related tools for the next few days. JetForce seems like a good option to build interactivity on gemini pages.

Onwards!

In the next few days I'll be moving the Station to a JetForce powered server for testing. Hopefully that will give me the right tools to make OrionStation everything it's supposed to be.

See you space cowboy.

» TRANSMISSION END --

¹What started as OrionStation, with a conceptual "OrionSpace" around it, is now the OSS-Betelgeuse with an actual Oriean Space around it. The project is a lot more tangible now. I switched domains in favor of a more pertinent and, frankly, sane structure.
