I think I've been approaching this Bubble notification suppression the wrong way. What I actually want is for all the enabled types to be emitted, so they can be grouped/combined together in a smarter way when rendering. For starters, I'll set up proper priority tiers for the notification types and ensure that from each grouping only the highest priority one is actually shown. The others can be silently discarded. Also, the flags determining which notifications you have enabled weren't...
Sharing is caring β Started a 'tape collection' on my capsule with mixtapes of stuff I like. Just posted the first one! If you enjoy them synths, you might like what's on there. Otherwise, you should still check it out because might be something new and who knows? Could be cool. π [preformatted] Peace!

[gemini link] Visual Gemtext Primer I created a visual Gemtext primer some months ago to spot the difference in the rendering of Gemtext pages with different browsers. Today I added a section at the bottom, because some clients behave differently and the spec is not very clear about this. What's your take?

Robopon! Has anyone played these games? They were contemporaries with Pokemon but did not get nearly as much attention. We only got "Sun Version" in the US (not sure why they didn't bring Star over at the same time), but I've recently gotten both Sun and Star in Japanese. I had the English one as as kid but it's too expensive to buy again now lol. Would love to hear if anyone has any memories of this game.

Is it too early to be nostalgic about KONPEITO? When I first got acquainted with Gemini and started working on Lagrange, these mixtapes provided a soundtrack that really put me in the right mood for the Smolnet. Anyway, KONPEITO is going down at the end of the month, so download/enjoy while you can.

it would be awesome to have a music metadata database for Gemini. A MusicBrainz proxy would do the job, but having something independent would be cooler. I wonder if there is a feasible way to keep something like that updated automatically.

After many years of not having a GB, I've installed the relevant core onto my RetroArch PC. I'm back in vertical shooter heaven playing Solar Striker πΎπ

Should we give Gemini page subscriptions a proper name? β There is no offical name for the Gemini page subscription specification. [gemini link] Some people call it gemsub or gmisub. I think it would be helpful, if the companion specification would mention a canonical name. If you want more options, put them in the comments, and I will update the poll.

Tuesday morn β Hi textmonger! I've been enjoying your posts. Since you mention s/discuss, it seems more than appropriate to reply to you here. Back in the 90s I'd thought that by now it would be easy to find collections of intelligent others growing closer for sharing thoughts. A little search for the right group(s), jump into the fray, enjoy. Ouch. Yeah, I remember the magic. My posts to "alt.rec.games-...

Thank you for creating this subspace! I was just about to do it myself. π I have a bit of background in creating music myself, and I believe it is quite a common hobby among computer folks. Looking forward to hearing some tunes.

Obligatory Intro Post β Hi all. I hope everyone's been well on Gemspace and the entirety of Gemini. This here's my intro post. Here, I go under FlipperZero ('cause I'm a tool pff. what a gimmick, rite?), but everywhere else I'm UserFX. Like anyone, I've had my own concerns over centralization here or staying decentralized. Bottomline, it's all a double edged sword afaik, and this slice of pie is sm0l, like-minded, and very expressive and personalized. Essentially, It's all good, no matter...

Mostly paintings, occasional grievances β An interesting capsule I stumbled on via geminispace.info's New Hosts feed a few years ago. There is a well-written gemlog and a gallery of paintings by the author.

Blocking Users and their Notifications β The Geminispace is quite chill compared to other communities. I hate to bring this up, but Bubble probably needs some sort of blocking feature to at least block notifications from people. A simple blocklist would do. An even stronger measure would be the ability to block the display of certain user's posts and comments. Given the experience with other social networks, it seems wise to act proactively and implement at least the first option.

Bubble v2.0: Fundamentals β GS.org has been updated to Bubble version 2. There is a bunch of new features and some bugfixes to improve the fundamental features of the system. Notifications Notifications are one of the key elements of the Bubble user experience, but they still had a lot of issues in version 1: redundancy and single-access links being the biggest annoyances. Both problems should now be largely resolved. History Your notifications now remain valid for up to one week, during...

I'm awaiting the arrival of the last PDA on my wishlist, a Sony Clie PEG-SL10. This is the last one I'm ordering I swear (maybe). The key features that landed this on my list are: "high res" monochrome display, mini USB port for hotsyncing, runs on AAA batteries.

Maintenance day I took a day off from work today, partly because partner is out of town and I don't want to spend the day in a rush between the office and the kindergarden. I did some maintenance like cleaning the washing machine, which had an horrible stink - and removing unused apps from the laptop.
