Family Update

I thought I might pop in a quick update about how my newly enlarged family is doing. Little Evie is doing well. She's growing fast although she's still very small.

When we got home with her, we realized half the clothes we had bought for her didn't actually fit despite being 'newborn' size (sizing for clothes other than men's is truly cursed.) Thankfully, some of the brands are actually small enough (consistently) for her to wear. She's still swimming in all of her sleep sacks (the new recommended way of putting your baby down to sleep) though. She looks like a quarter sized hotdog in a full sized bun. She'll catch up in size before too long.

Both my wife and I have been dealing with pretty severe sleep deprivation as is expected for new parents. Unfortunately, we both caught a cold (no it wasn't covid, we checked) at the same time and we were feeling like shit for almost a week. Thankfully, my Mother in Law was here to help us with the transition and she was able to pick up most of the slack around the house and we're now (mostly) recovered. Unfortunately, it seems we may have gotten her sick with our cold. Oops...

Both of us are slowly getting used to dealing with a newborn although my wife seems to be doing better with her. Diaper changes are pretty much automatic for us although when she poops, she tends to shit like a buffalo. She managed to poop out what had to be like 10% of her body weight at one point. It filled her diaper and several wipes. I wasn't mad, just impressed.

Now that she's not fresh from the womb, she's slowing starting to show her personality. Mind you, most of her behavior is simply sleeping, eating and pooping at this point. When she's actually awake though, she's quite the charmer. Whenever she looks up and smiles at me, my heart melts. It makes the 3am screaming sessions feel worth it.
