1. If you had to live in an inner-city area for the next 10 years - where would that be, and in what type of domicile.
2. Have you lived in many places, or few? What was your favourite?
3. What do you love about where you live now?
4. Circumstances force you to move to a place in a historical time for the remainder of your life. Where and when is this?
5. Describe your dream-home. What is your favourite thing about it? Where is it?

1. I love many cities, and so many adventures could be had in so many places. New York could be fun, if expensive. I love Barcelona. I think I could enjoy San Diego, such a beautiful and well-tempered little town. But I am certain, from experience, that living in a small apartment in Melbourne is something to be loved. It needs to be airy and well-lit with natural light and open-plan in design, preferably one decent-sized bedroom with a separate office-space (like an alcove or nook). It will need a good-sized balcony with space to entertain, and views over the CBD have to be there. Preferably, it would be on somewhere between the 3rd and 10th floor. Modern wet-areas, a bathroom with a bath, a well-appointed and uncramped kitchen and entry security are a must, as is 100Mbps+ internet. Close walking distance to grocery stores, café's and parks is essential. All that is very easily found in Melbourne. I've had it before, and may choose it again.
2. I have lived in many places. Twenty two, in fact, since birth, and the majority in my adult years. I have experienced many styles of home and living, on three continents. The house I presently live in is the home I have lived in for the longest period of my life. I have enjoyed most places I have lived, and have loved something about each place. I guess moving a fair bit has taught me not to get too attached to any one location, although there are a few places for which I do occasionally feel a vague pining homesickness.
Separating place from experience is a fool's game, but I think the place where I felt most at ease to be myself, and the most nurtured by my environment, was either of the apartments I lived in by myself in Prahran/Windsor, one from 1999-2001, and one from 2012-2015.
3. I am not really fond of the suburbs; I am here for utilitarian reasons, which require the need to forgo the aesthetics and "vibe" of my location. It is the second house I have owned, and it is nice enough. Big, airy, well-lit, well-designed and nice enough amenities. It has access to decent grocery shopping and health services - but this part of suburbia is a relatively uninspired millennial tract maze, cookie-cut and soulless. What I love about this place is that it serves its purpose well, and that it is not forever.
4. Hmmm - San Fransisco in the 60s & 70s (with today's knowledge). Or maybe a Mayan city at its peak? Ancient Cairo, or Rome? These places could be fascinating if I could be transported there. I think maybe I am projecting too much romance into these tableaus - they would probably be dangerous and quite hard-going by modern standards. But I guess this question allows for one to indulge in a fantasy ;)
5. My dream home is a smol-home, something very modern, compact, low-impact and well designed. Off-grid self-sufficiency for power, heat and water would be ideal. Something like the Swedish Vipp Shelter would be lovely:
I would like it to be located in a temperate coastal area - my dream would be for it it be on a seaside cliff-top, with views over the ocean, and a path down to a swimmable, sandy beach. It would be in a private location, with a few acres of lightly wooded land, and some garden space for fruit, veg and oxygen. Its position would be at the top of a gentle rise, so I'd have not only ocean views, but woodland views out the other side.
Whilst secluded, it should be close enough to a populated area to allow frequent visits to and from friends, and easy drivable access to civilisation, including decent food shopping, healthcare services, and other mod-cons. What I most love about this place is the the low-maintenance livability, autonomy and the beautiful, soothing atmosphere of its setting.
