This is a gemlog for the SpellBinding puzzle, in which you construct words using the specified letters (each word must contain the anchor letter).
ELEMENT ENTENTE EXEMPT EXPELLENT EXPLEMENT EXTENT LENT MEET MELT MENTEE METTLE NETT NETTLE NEXT PELLET PELMET PELT PENT TEEM TEEN TEEPEE TELETEXT TELEX TELL TEMP TEMPLE TEMPT TENEMENT TENET TENT TEPEE TETE TEXT
Pangrams: EXPLEMENT
Miseed: METE
ENTENTE: an international understading providing for a common course of action. So what's a 'detente', you ask? detente: the relaxation of strained relations or tensions. I've been wondering about this for a good chunk of my life, never bothering to look it up. I may even remember this. Thanks, SpellBinding!
METTLE: vigor, stamina. This is one of those words, like 'nation', used exclusively by politicians and TV newscasters. In this case, barely literal coaches and gym teachers.
PELMET: a short valence or cornice covering the curtain rod and fixtures. We've had it before, and I had a mnemonic 'curtain helmet', but all I could remember was 'helmet'. That's the trouble with mnemonic devices.
TETE: not 'head', as the French say, but a late 18th-century ornamented style of women's hairdress (or wigs).
From my putzing around with the dictionary, can't tell you how many _definitions_ I've learned, but can't remember the actual words! I'm always like 'there is a word for that!'.
Well, that's not nothing...
Another day.
