So I just realized how much a trailing slash could matter in urls: if I go to my gemlog at gemini://elektito.com/gemlog (notice the lack of a trailing slash) and click on one of the relative links (like pointing to "1-first-post"), the client asks for gemini://elektito.com/1-first-post, instead of gemini://elektito.com/gemlog/1-first-post. At first I thought this is a bug in the clients, but now I'm thinking it sorta makes sense. Without the trailing slash, the browser asks for a sibling page, same as if I was looking at gemini://elektito.com/gemlog.gmi. I'd better reconfigure my server to redirect those urls.

I made a fresh installation of Fedora 38, which had recently been released. I use Fedora for many years now and always feel like coming home. Good old Fedora. :-) In addition I always llike to use flatpak apps, so the Fedora itself is more or less in original state. That's fine for the next upgrade in 6 months.

What a great weekend. Heading home after spending the last 3 days in the world of Esperanto with 80 other crazy people from all over the world. The escape from normality (and English) is such a nice change. Really looking forward to much more of this in the summer!

I spend more than 2 hours not understanding why my FPGA design was not working. Turn out when there is an error in pin assignment, Quartus (Intel's IDE) does not shows there is an error. Worse, it chooses silently a default pinout. Who thought this was a good idea?

this morning i played a single game of freecell for more than a half hour. time flew by as i unlocked the puzzle, requiring two restarts (of the same deal). i am happy to report that in the end, i did indeed solve the hand; leaving me with a curious feeling of victory (over myself, the ultimate puzzle).

Saw the Mario movie today. It was better than I expected it to be. I particularly enjoyed the soundtrack and music choices. Jack Black did a really good job as Bowser, it sounds like he really enjoyed the role. All in all it was quite a fun little film.
