Blog for 2022.
Ahm where to blog to? Originally there was blogspot before that became a pain to use. I switched over to Wordpress for a number of years. It is heavyweight, and cumbersome to use for technical writing. I briefly switched over to blogging on Gemini. It is well-suited to technical writing, but I did not want to have too many files on my system. I tried bearblog, which is pretty reasonable, but very confusing to navigate. Medium is the last one I tried, and I am using that. It is fairly simple, accomodates code well, but not quotes. Which brings me to brain rewiring ... So, in the side panel "More from Medium" as such links as "4 Books So Powerful, They Can Rewire Your Brain." Clickbait much? "10 Little Behaviours that Attract People to You." Actually, I know what my problem is: I score way high on the disagreeableness scale. According to a Stars Wars test I did, I have the disagreeableness of Emperor Palpatine. Oh dear. Then there's "How I have Made $280k Selling Spreadsheets on Etsy." I am unemployed at the moment, so as it happens, I am open to the idea of making money plying my computer skills. But I am not so open that my brain has fallen out. In other words, I have not clicked on the article. Ah the modern internet. The hustle. Always the hustle.
... C, C++, Python, Perl. I was thinking of including Golang, but I am sniffy about their module system. I started learning D at the beginning of the year, but found it too frustrating, and gave up. Zig has some nice touches. They recently reported that they switched compilers from an old 80k line of C++ to a 250k line of Zig compiler. This suggests that Zig is less expressive than C++. I have been interested in the suckless philosophy recently. They hate C++ over there, preferring C. Well, if you think that writing less code is good, then surely C++ is the place to be. Tangentially, I am currently learning Hare. I think I have gotten over the initial hump where I do not know how to write anything to a stage where I have a grasp of the syntax.

I have decided to try for a "mini-blog" rather than full blog, with a year on one page. Each blog entry should take a paragraph, maybe two, and I put a whole year on a single page. Having one file per blog entry produces more clutter than I really like. It is not a micro-blog, either, where I am restricted to 400 characters. That seems fairly arbitrary to me, and too limiting if I want to write more. I still continue my interest in Gemini. In fact, I have been consistently adding content. The content is more technical in nature though, as opposed to blogging. My plan is to continue with the technical stuff, with an occasional blog post that might discuss recent content additions, or the occasional rant or observation. Transmission ends.
