I really need to clean up this gemini site and go back to the drawing board.
Completely agree with Alex on self-hosting and complexity being a problem.
My workout tracking program is not very good lol. Oh well.
Completely disagree with Nicholas Johnson's latest post. My main question is: who should have children, and who should not? Someone must have children for humanity to continue, how do we make a moral decision as to who deserves that privilege?
About to write a program to track exactly how much I work out, also going to expand some of my flounder utilities soon so I can do more stuff easier on my flounder site. Hopefully it's fun.
Holy smokes, I haven't tweeted in a month and a half.. I need to get back on Flounder...
If a stock drops 5% today but gains 5% tomorrow you still lose money :0. Likewise if a stock gains 5% today and loses 5% tomorrow you still lose money. So it is probably better to look at stocks in terms of total changes and never think of percentages because that is misleading, its the "like button" of the investing world
Had fun with Alex's stream today - kind of interesting to participate in a Twitch thing, appreciating it as a sort of chatroom like the old days, except it's a new thing. Still weird. But I see the value in it, especially for smaller channels. Inspired to stream now
Thinking about adding a dream journal and memoirs to this capsule. Then also sort of reflecting on how I can improve my content creation productivity using a few tools doctors hate... hmm
Remembering things that happened 15 years ago and being disturbed by the fact that I almost forgot them. Even more disturbed by the fact that I HAVE forgotten things.
Just had a bizarre dream while being sick, which is challenging my perception of the world. I went to a drink fountain and got a small amount of "Monday" soda. Only a small amount, bexause I wanted to taste it. But I didn't get a whole cup because it doesnt come in diet. There was also a Wednesday soda, which is a different brand entirely. But there was no Tuesday soda or any other day. That would be absurd! So anyway when I woke up I had to come to grips with the reality that Monday and Wednesday sodas don't exist. And that has been very troublesome to me. All of the soda brands seem fake to me now. I mean... CocaCola "Dreamworld" is REAL? but Monday Cola isn't? How? Why?
There are two ways people react to acts of violence. Either to attempt to disarm others, or to attempt to arm themselves. In either case, the motivation is the same, but the difference is in perspective comes from their understanding of the possibility of disarming others without themselves being armed.
There's very little that limits what someone can accomplish when they stop complaining
The one thing retarding a post-human future is the need of the machine for the host humans' suture
Windows 11 is a downgrade from Windows 10. Best to use every other version of Windows. Can't wait for Windows 12!
Every time I boot into Windows for the first time in 3 months to play a video game at 11pm, I end up waiting an hour for the game to update, by which time it is too late and I go to bed. I guess, I'll repeat this neverending cycle in 3 months...
Microsoft continues to amaze me - the only reason they have market share is because of business users and gamers, yet all of their OS design decisions seem to be centered around appealing to the "casual user" and making their system more "mobile / touch screen friendly" ... There is no chance of Windows appealing to the casual user and these decisions make the OS less favorable to the core userbase. Right click - New text file ... "Nobody uses *that* anymore", says Microsoft
Spotify is probably going to go the way of Netflix eventually. I should start listing all the songs I like somewhere so when they start disappearing off of Spotify I will not forget about them for years.
The notion that "Everything" can be found on the internet is based on a narrow definition of the word "Everything"
Congratulations, glassdoor.com - you have lost your privileges of running JavaScript in my web browser.
Hello World! I am tweeting about stuff
I think I'm going to tidy up my flounder utilities and put them in a neat package
Sorry for the sparseness of cheat sheets.
Decided to try learning some R after watching a video on it and going "Oooh - looks useful"
Really enjoy tmux way better than i3wm.... i3 is OK but I'm just not used to it... Tmux is just so much more comfortable
Realizing my cheetsheets page needs to be better organized, LOL
Finally got my finances in order so I spent some extra cash and took a trip to NYC. Dumped my personal finance book on the ground -- didn't need it any more!
I've always been enamored with programming, as long as I can remember I have always been into computers -- I'm crazy grateful about this when I see other people struggle to find their calling in life.
I like to think of the world in glorious terms - why should we not speak of glory and prestige? Why is it cringe? I refer to myself as a king, my domain as my kingdom, and I speak of the glory of all mankind. Why be depressed when you can be glorious?
It doesn't have to be real. I am the King of Sophenheim. The king of the home of wisdom. Why constantly compare yourself to others, why live within the confines of reality? Why waste your time proving what you intuitively know brings greatness to your life and your own experience?
If you read the news you might think that the world is getting crazy and unstablthese days. If you read history, you wknow that it is not much different now than ever before.
Signed up for ctrl-c.club -- interested to see how it goes
I agree about freedom to roam. The whole thing about owning property for no reason and a fence around every acre of land in the USA is kind of... Silly. Sort of like gun control.
I tend to agree with gitnick on crypto
MicroUSB may be one of the worst cables in the history of cables, maybe ever
Thinking of makimg available my code for the tweeter and message maker but I know its not polished code and anticipate getting roasted
Probably about to go against my own words of squidsdom and buy a nice cell phone, mainly for work reasons.
Just identified a pattern of nonproductivity. Sometimes, when people are attempting to solve the problem at hand, they can become so concerned about the *next* potential problem (or a new problem caused by the solution to the problem at hamd) that they either fall into a purity spiral trying to solve every anticipated problem, or they convince themselves that due to the anticipated problems the problem at hand can not or should not be solved. In any case, the resuly is a failure to solve the problem at hand.
Thinking about writing some more trucking related content.
Always fluctuating between thinking of spirituality in the Christian sense and in the pagan sense...
Feeling very nostalic about the idea of computers from my childhood until now, a magical force that has dominated my perception of the world for my entire life.
Always keeping tabs on Alex's fleetings ... >.> gotta peep them before he deletes them from before my very eyes
Maybe the best thing about making music is the feeling that you aren't making it, but just experiencing it. It's like the music was already there, and you are doing an imperfect job of turning into a form that humans perceive. God created the music and now you are discovering a fraction of it and it takes all of your focus to do that much
Trying to be as wholesome as possible in life...
I may be getting a significant promotion soon... This is an exciting but scary time for me. Next month may kill me. But if I survive and I usually do, then it will be hella sick
Things worth spending good money on: food, clothes, tools, equipment, land, buildings, firearms, and sterling silver, gemstones, and gifts. Things NOT worth spending good money on: vehicles, rental property, gasoline, most proprietary software, furniture, and netflix
Wondering if everyone else on flounder lives in the same apartment complex LOL :P
Is 'the cloud' just a buzz word? It might be much worse than that; more like a bait-and-switch than just a simple buzz word for "someone else's computer"... Not just someone else's computer, but in the case of SaaS, someone else's software on someone else's computer. First you depend on the software, then you have no control over it, and then you are dependent, and completely at the vendor's mercy... This may be the biggest lie in the history of lies, maybe ever. Its like the ultimate form of proprietary software. The only thing that could be worse is the brain chip with proprietary firmware
So I was being sarcastic about sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade being complicated cuz in reality its not that bad but then I had to install brave browser for the zillionth time and I am now finally considering moving out of ubuntopolis
Ads on the internet these days are beyond insanity. Speaking of which, this tweet is sponsored by Da Bomb: Beyond Insanity hot sauce. Get some on dabomb dot com
Its always inspiring to see your fellow flounderers improving their vibes and mindsets, and focus on enjoying their lives and deleting social media accounts
alias neoflex="neofetch"
Top 3 reasons Ubuntu stinks:
1. Too easy; can't brag
2. Get roasted for using it
3. "sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" is too complicated
I think I figured out why my tweeter was broken. Apparently the way I wrote my code, if I typed "N" when asked to confirm a tweet, the code just said "Uhh... OK - I guess we don't need this file anymore"
test
Lubuntu best 'buntu
So, my tweet script is messing things up and occasionally deleting my entire tweets.gmi page.. So I lost some tweets. I put in there to create a time stamped backup just before it creates every tweet I make... That way I wont lose any more tweets before I finally figure out what I did wrong.
There's something incredibly beautiful about central Texas at dusk in the summertime :) so super duper bueno. The warmth is nice and cool - at 90 degrees it is a nice, cool relief from the hot summer day. And it's so quiet, and so cozy. I don't think this sentiment is shared with many people outside of Texas, but I don't see me ever loving another place more. This is the biome I belong in.
