Maybe someone knows here. How excatly do I make a x64 CPU go from kernel mode to user mode? I've tried my best going through OSDev wiki and searchs. All resources only point to 32bit methods. No 64bit ones.

From what I understand of such devices, x86_64 is backwards compatible with x86 machine code. No promises, but I expect that it's the same for 32 bit and 64 bit. If it doesn't work, I expect that the processor (or processor family) in question has some official documentation that should answer all your questions, in a few thousand pages (intel x86 documentation is about 11k pages long). · 11 months ago
