Disclaimer: I do not bet. However I could bet that none of you knew that 1.6 English ell is equal to 6 feet. Least you would know, I imagine, that 1.6 Scotish ell is equal to 4.96 feet. :)) If you're reading an old book where things like a firkin of butter, a punch of prunes, a fother of lead, or a stone of butcher's meat appear, here's a tool to convert all those units - to the metric system, preferably. :)) https://www.convertunits.com/

One interesting factlet I always found fun to learn is that the English used to have a unit called a wand, equal to 1007 mm, that the French discarded in favour of the yard. Not only was it a great shame that it was, it also implies that wands should be very long, much longer than the ones in modern depictions. · 1 year ago
