That's the problem. Netscape doesn't know about Apple II files, and
anything it doesn't know about it transfers as text files. SHK and SDK
files are binary.

Here's some information lifted off my METAL/FV web page:

Thus far, not a single web browser recognizes Apple II filename extensions
and will not transfer them properly. Your browser will need to be
reconfigured so that Apple II archives are recognized.

UNIX Lynx users should put the following lines in their ~/.mime.types file:

              application/x-ShrinkIt shk SHK sdk SDK
application/x-BinaryII bny BNY bqy BQY bxy BXY
              text/x-BinSCII bsc BSC bsq BSQ

For Netscape users, go to the "Options" pull-down menu and select
"Preferences...". Then, from the pop-up menu, select "Helper
Applications". Click the "New..." button for each new filetype and enter
the word to the left of the slash above as the "MIME Type" and the
hyphenated word to the right of that as the "MIME Subtype". Then, in the
"Extensions" field, enter the three-letter extensions that are in
lowercase, separating them with commas. Lastly, select the "Save" radio
button in the "Action" list.

For other web browsers, see your documentation.
