There was a death in the family recently and I went to India for the funereal rituals. It was my first time back in 4 years. I felt more of an adult there than ever before and felt like an equal among my relatives. It was a different experience than I’ve ever had.
I also had an easy time slipping back into the culture of my homeland than I ever have. My family left India when I was 6 so this is kind of a big deal I think.
It’s strange how switching between two cultures changes my entire worldview and personality in ways I cannot predict.
