Been reading the docs, but still don't quite understand... Are gemini domain names specific to the protocol? If yes, how does one get a gemini domain name? Thanks in advance for your help.

DNS lookups is its own protocol spec. but look at Gemini similar to email. most domains have a website, an email address and sometimes even a mobile app, all running towards the same name · 1 year ago

Don't forget that DNS is always cached, and your VPS will not be immediately available via domain, it takes some time (tens of minutes) · 1 year ago

@aka_dude That's what I thought, but it's not working. Perhaps I'm making some other mistake on pointing. Thanks anyway. · 1 year ago

Domains are never (AFAIK) about protocols, they are just aliases to IP addresses · 1 year ago

Gemini domain names are the same as traditional domain names as far as I know. You acquire a domain name in the normal way and set it up for your gemini server like you would for anything else (not sure about specifics as I've never done it myself, though). · 1 year ago
