Well I made it another year. It hasn’t been the same since they evacuated time square a few years ago the floods were just too bad and once the lights went out in time-square. It just didn’t feel right. It was fitting that REM was the last show to play their. But we call kind of knew it was a sick joke. We were all in on.
X-Mas was tough this year had to spend most of December bartering for my meds after the Ports closed. Every pharmacy was just bare but I was able to get a 90 day supply. So I’m flying high for as long as my leg keeps working.
I told my wife Heather that we were going to make this a good year. I busted my ass last year getting enough masks for us to not have to fight anyone this year and a portable generator. I felt so smart about getting Solar panels for the house but when the grid blew 2 years ago it took out all the electrics to make them work and no one is willing to repair them for what we can offer and I don’t have the parts or tools to figure it out. But that doesn’t matter this year we will have power when we need it and the only thing we need to get is food and I think I have a source.
I used to work in IT on big networks pushing bits around a real keyboard cowboy. Now I'm just the guy that can fix things. As we started to lose networks and parts of the Internet went dark ether by governments locking down or the backbone shut down do to extreme fires or weather and were just not getting repaired after the first few teams died and everyone quit.
I was smart enough to download manuals and Wikipedia of all things before it shutdown. Now I use the knowledge I had and what I can look up to fix things in our community. If you would have asked me if I would have a green thumb I would have laughed in your face. Me a gardener I would have killed a weed in the before times. But with food shipments gone its community garden or starve. I'm just glad I can help out with hydroponics infrastructure.
Anyway I hope this year is better than the last but hell we have been saying that for what 09 years now.
