Gardaí at the scene this morning

A 24-year-old man has died after he was attacked in a hostel in Dublin
in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí have begun a murder investigation following the incident at
Harrington House on the southside of the city centre.
A 41-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned at a Dublin
garda station.
Gardaí said they received a report of a man with serious injuries at
the hostel on Harrington Street at 4.45am.
The victim, who was believed to be from Clondalkin, was taken to St
James's Hospital, but later died from his injuries.
It appears he may have been stabbed following a row with another
resident.
Both were staying in separate rooms and one appears to have gone in to
the other man's room, where the row broke out.

The detained man can be questioned for up to 24 hours. He has also
received medical attention and been seen by a doctor.
It is understood he was previously known to gardaí and comes from west
Dublin.
The scene has been forensically examined, residents have been spoken to
and CCTV footage has been gathered.
The State Pathologist's Office has been notified and a post-mortem
examination will take place later today.
An incident room has been set up and a senior investigating officer and
family liaison officer have been appointed.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact Kevin
Street Garda Station on 01 666 9400, the Garda Confidential Line on
1800 666 111, or any garda station.
While gardaí have issued an appeal for information, they are following
a definite line of inquiry
The scene has been preserved for an examination by the Garda Technical
