Midnight Pub

finding my way back to the calloused land

~inquiry

The weather was on our side, inducing "eLearning" days for my wife and I. We're talking serious reprieve from snot-nosed disrespecters of any hope of a possible learning environment.

So I finally restrung the acoustic and got back with it. Left (chord) hand in serious pain. I've only played a Stratocaster on and off the last couple years, so that hand's basically starting over in the endurance department.

But oh how fun to experience glimmers unto brilliant radiance of muscle memory in the songs and/or fingerings department!

Vocal chords rather rusty too, so I'm not pushing much. I'll just have to wait to be in "Back In Black" form. :-)

(The smiley because said vibrating fleshticles have *never* been in *that* form....)

My wife has some fantastic ideas about having small group events at the AirBnb, she doing most of the heavy cooking/socializing lifting, me providing some background music (she joining in from time to time, though). That was the main impetus for getting back with aforementioned axe.

I get that to some degree. Due to corona followed by corona-effects, I missed my usual yearly January foray onto the mountains to feel the powder, twice in a row.

In that time I thought, "well, that's a skill I won't get back", and when a friend asked me to go recently, this doubt gnawed at the back of my mind.

On the actual day though, it was smooth sailing. It was like I never left. Like slipping back into your native childhood accent in your home town, after being gone for what seems like a lifetime.
