I feel lame for some reason. I see everybody here on Gemini doing really big things and the only thing I’ve done that is my biggest project is a discord bot

We tend to assess ourselves in relation to those around us. At the risk of sounding a bit arrogant, Gemini folks do indeed seem to be a cut above average. FWIW, as others have noted, you're only seeing what's been pushed "above ground" by a few folks.

Most likely there will always be many people way cooler than you and many people way lamer than you. Whether you feel "cool" or "lame" is just a matter of who you choose to compare yourself to. So just enjoy yourself and try to satisfy yourself with doing your best. :) · 2 years ago

hey, I try to never compare what I do and look like to others.. for two reasons: 1) i never know the truth about others, 2) the only thing that matters is whether i'm doing what i can and want. you're doing great! · 2 years ago

I can echo that. It's surprising to see how much more accomplished people look from the outside. · 2 years ago

I totally agree with what others have said. Yet I understand how you feel. I think emotionally, it's related to jealousy in that you spend too much time looking at others to properly appreciate youself. Don't belittle your work! · 2 years ago

Also bear in mind the social media effect. People publish what works, not the 100,000 failed scripts and dead projects littering their drives. · 2 years ago

Do what you can with what you've got in the time available.

Bonus points if it's "useful" - whatever that means.

Also, use gemini'ers are probably pretty far from human-normal. I probably averaged >10 hours per day on a computer for years - very little of which was youtube/gaming. Don't be like us. · 2 years ago

completely fair. · 2 years ago

Dance to express, not to impress. You do whatever you find interesting, and we're probably going to be interested as well. Projects you start to impress other people rarely get finished. (Further, every big project I've ever undertaken started as a small 15 line-of-code doodad that was mostly useless but demonstrated an idea could work) · 2 years ago

Well today, all I did was to write a reply on a social media post on Station. The fact you are getting involved and not just lurking is success enough · 2 years ago

I don't think comparing your achievements to what others have done is very productive. It's inspiration. Documented inspiration. It's an opportunity to learn. · 2 years ago
