I walk through this city that was not built with stone or brick. It was built from the ink spilled on my granddaddy’s desk soaked into the wood and stayed stained there until I carved into it a rectangle and then another and then a geodesic dome. This dome is now in front of me. I enter. It is empty. There is an outer space in this inner space. I breathe out. The inputs bounce off the triangles until they smash into each other and fuse. Into a sun. The ejecta sticks to the inside, building up layers that I have not had the time to chip away at and toss into the sun to grow the petri dish beneath it. Growing the trees of steel and glass. Permeating the ground with the interstates where the oil dripping from the tailpipes runs off, germinating the ground. Sprouting Supras and duplexes reflecting the late afternoon orange in their windows.
