Post-Covid

2021-11-04

I'm coming out of a stressful week, thanks in no small part to my catching of that virus that's been going around. I haven't been able to leave home until today not only because of my quarantine period but also because this thing just sucks. Aches, cough, big fatigue, loss of taste and smell. It's definitely not the sickest I've ever been, but it still majorly got in the way of things I needed to get done. I had to makeup a calculus exam today which isn't exactly easy after you've missed a week of class.

It feels like I've been cooped up for a lot longer than a week because of the rapid change in weather. Any longer and I may as well have missed all of fall. I spent some extra time just walking around outside today to enjoy it all and make up for the past week.

I'm pretty done with a lot of the mainstream discussion and arguments surrounding covid on a larger scale. You'd think a worldwide pandemic would help bring people together, not further accelerate already rapidly growing divisions. Hopefully it's all just a symptom of people spending more time online from the lockdowns.

Even when just casually talking about my own personal experiences with covid, I feel like I have to tread lightly lest I say the wrong thing in the eyes of some self-proclaimed pandemic expert. If I bring up my sickness and don't mention that I got the vaccine almost 2 months ago, it'll be "well why weren't you vaccinated?". If I do mention my vaccination it'll be "are you saying that vaccines don't work?".

Anyway, I don't mean for this to turn into a rant. See, even I'm starting to feed into the arguments that I just barely said I couldn't stand anymore. I just want the old reality back where we mind our own business and see things from other points of view.
