I started using
which is the main Italian instance on Mastodon and I think it's ok. The people in devol.it are doing a great job giving everybody to have access into the Fediverse with no cost. But I wanted to try the flavour of a personal instance because I think the great idea in the Fediverse is that everybody can have their personal / family / friends / small group instance instead of a centralized service.
So I searched some information on how to install Mastodon on my server. There are lots of guides on the Internet related to that topic but the mission appeared too diffucukt to try for me and the requested system resources too large. In the end I bounced on a post on the global timeline of pasture@pl.gamers.exposed where the user gave links and information on the installation of a Pleroma server:

Well, I decided to give a try to Yarrps.
The installation process was simple and straightforward. I only found instructions of the SSH Keypair creation to have access to the server via ssh a little bit tricky but I had done it before and was not a problem to me.
The server works fine and I was really happy to discover that Pleroma has also a gopherspace part. Yes I am a nostalgic and an incurable romantic and probably this is the reason why I'm writing this Journal in my Gemini capsule. :-)
