I am listening to the part 1 of the book. It reflects on me how hard life was during the colonial period. Women and men took hardship to keep the family protected when even food was falling short. Also, being a confucius society, there were social obligations to keep, and certain dignities to be maintained. While here I am as a single man, living and minding only my own comfort and happiness. And hell, I am even lousy at that.
