The full halo CME with projected plane-of-the-sky speed of about 1000 km/s (as reported by the CACTUS software) was observed on April 13. The CME was first time observed in the SOHO/LASCO C2 filed of view at 13:25 UT and in the STEREO A/COR2 field of view at 13:23 UT. There are no clear on disc signatures of the CME observed on the visible side of the Sun, as seen from Earth or from the STEREO A. Considering the position of the STEREO A and the orientation of the CME we can conclude that this CME was a back side event and will therefore not arrive to Earth.

At about 12:30 UT today the solar wind velocity suddenly increased from about 460 to 560 km/s. At the same time the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field turned to negative values (down to -11 nT ) and that resulted in disturbed geomagnetic conditions. Since 12:30 UT today few intervals of K=5 were reported by local station at Dourbes, and NOAA reported the one interval of Kp=5 and one interval of the Kp=6. If the Bz will remain negative, and the solar wind velocity rather high, the storm conditions will persist in the coming hours.
