After I got some time to check out the suggestion of Wacup, I realized that I would need to use Wine with winetricks installed to get it running. Intstead, I wanted to see if I could find #xmms and get it running. After about an hour / hour and a half, I was still not able to install it. Xmms hasn't been updated since 2007 and while I was able to install the necessary (old) libraries it needed, it just wouldn't compile / make, despite "./configure" working. Feeling that I've reached the end of how much time I wanted to invest, I abandoned it.
I then checked out #qmmp from the snap store. It was nice, but there was something about it just didn't like. maybe the "double size" made the window look all distorted, I'm not sure. So then finally I wondered if I could just get wine to run winamp, so I ran over to oldversion.com, downloaded version 2.95, and typed "wine winamp295.exe", installed it, and BAM, it runs and plays music. Problemmostly solved - the song titles aren't showing up in the playlist. Oh well.
Next up, I'll try out Wacup with winetricks, but I'll probably just make a tinylog entry about that one.

You can also get skins off of Archive.org:

And place (as elevated user) into:
/usr/share/audacious/Skins/
Or drag them into Audacious, as Mike mentioned below.

Hey there,
I saw your Gemini post about Winamp and was wondering if you knew about Audacious? You can change it to classic mode and use any Winamp skin including the original. I attached a screenshot of my Xfce desktop with Audacious running to show what it looks like. Like you I have nostalgic moments!

By the way, Audacious doesn't have the default Winamp skin although it does have some others. You can find it here though: https://skins.webamp.org/. All you have to do is drag the downloaded file into the Audacious skin list in settings.
