Trinitarian Thoughts

02/02/2023

A Brief Glimpse at the Trinity

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father (Galatians 1:4)
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance... (1 Thessalonians 1:5)

These two verses combined give us a glimpse of the unity within the trinity and the roles that each person in the trinity carrys out. Galatians 1:4 shows us God the Son and God the Father working together in the act of redemption. We see that God the Father wills the death of His Son. Alongside that, we see hat God the Son gives himself up for our sins willingly. Briefly looking at 1 Thessalonians 1:5 we see the Spirit is what gives the gospel power. When the word of God is preached it only comes in power if the Spirit applies it to the hearts of men.

So we can see the following roles played out:

Within these distinct roles we can see a unified will. That is, a will seeking after the salvation of God's people!
