As a chronic web surfer for over 20 years, I have grown tired of the draining and brainwashing cash grab that is our modern Internet. I yearn for the simpler days of link farms, web rings, and personal websites. Furthermore, I am tired of the difficulty associated with keeping my online persona separate from real life with the advent of corporate social media, ever-decreasing data privacy, and tech monopolization.
The growing "alternative" online spheres are now my jumping-off point for a new persona: one that establishes anonymity, privacy, and boundaries between my personal and online lives. The "Salted Slug" moniker will now mark this persona across all the corners of the alternative web in places like Cohost, Neocities, and Mastodon.
