Posting this from lagrange. I can see why this browser seems so popular! Maybe I'll start using it more alongside amfora which is my usual browser. Are there any other browsers out there that people here really like?

@krsh I wouldn't call it a large pool of dependencies myself:

sudo apt install cmake libsdl2-dev libssl-dev libpcre3-dev zlib1g-dev libunistring-dev

Not wanting to build from source for whatever reason is perfectly fine, but I do want to get ahead of this idea that Lagrange is some huge project with tons of dependencies. For whatever it's worth, on my 1.5Ghz ARM64 box:

 $ mkdir ~/.local2 build2 && cd build2 && time (cmake ..  -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=$HOME/.local2 && cmake --build . --target install)
...

I use lagrange primarily. Sometimes if I'm feeling particularly nerdy/terminal-dependent then bombadillo or gelim. When for some reason I happened to like emacs a lot at that moment then I'd use elpher :D

@maria well yeah since nothing is perfect. www browsers are much older and stable I guess? but people still have things they want better from them · 1 year ago

@krsh I build Lagrange from source with the Nunito TTFs in res/fonts replaced with my preferred font's TTFs. Having an "official" path would be nice, of course, but this has been working in the meantime for me. · 1 year ago

@krsh Selecting fonts from disk is a feature I'm planning to do, however of course it's Not That Simple™️. Given the current technical choices behind the app, improving the font support will also necessitate switching font rasterization libraries, and maybe also integrate OS-specific APIs like CoreText on the Mac.

@modderbear I'd love to open up page theming with custom styles. It all comes down to prioritization and work scheduling, though — have to do the more important things first. Lagrange's page layout routine needs a bit of revising anyway, so introducing user-controlled theming won't be a big problem, when the time comes. · 1 year ago

@krsh Yeah I agree. Also a few more or custom theming options would be nice. Gotta nord theme everything. · 1 year ago
