Tinylog containing updates/progress made toward using a Pine Phone Pro as my daily driver.
Recently, I saw that PostmarketOS had released a version that included support for not only the PinePhone but also the PinePhone Pro. Previously, I had to build my own image using their tool, PMBootstrap which is not that difficult. I had a lot of problems with the iso image so I went back to creating with PMbootstrap. Previously, PostmarketOS did not work with sound or calls, but the wiki listed it as working. I built the SXMO image which is faster and more responsive that the other interfaces. After booting up, I was disapointed to find that sound still did not work. I could send and receive text messages but not calls. I noticed during the build however that it installed a font called noto-fonts-emoji. This was interesting because emojis works in PostmarketOS but not the Arch distro. So, after switching back to my Arch SD card, I installed noto-fonts-emoji and wala! Emojis now show on the keyboard and on the terminal. Happy about making a little bit of progress toward the PPP being a default driver (usable phone).

* Sound still works
* text/sms inbound/outbound works
* battery status seems to update quickly on status bar when connected to charger
* Calls inbound/outbound still do not work ( I need to look into this to find out if this is because of a modem setting ).
I am also thinking of creating a fossil project to track progress toward getting the ppp to a usable status. This page could be a mirror of the project changelog.
