The No Hello Club

I saw someone post this link in IRC today that I really liked.

https://nohello.club/

Unnecessary pleasantries waste time and effort in task-based conversations. In the No Hello Club we never start a request for information or help with a useless phrase like "Hello".
If someone has shared this with you or has this link in their profile, it means they won't be offended if you skip the pleasantries and get straight to the point. Do still be polite, and feel free to have social conversations!

I saw the above link posted in IRC today and after reading the entire page at the link, I really agree with the statement.

Frequently in a techical environment whether at work or elsewhere, someone will try to be friendly by timidly introducing themselves and posting other introductions before getting to the point. For someone whose job it is to respond and help people, not asking the question right away feels like their time is itentionally being stolen. After a while, it gets harder and harder to remind yourself that they don't mean to waste your time by stealing your attention away from what they are trying to focus on.

After reading this and remembering how frustrated I get when people send greetings without the actual question in MS Teams at work or over XMPP at home

, I decided that I need to remember to be as direct as I want people to be with me.
