My wife and I watched Shadow and Bone when it came out, and I personally found a lot to like about it. From what I know about the series, if you like the show then you probably should read the books that it is based on. It seems the author and the series are well-loved and respected.

Some may not like it because it seems to be primarily geared towards teenage girls. I personally don't think this is a bad thing, and it's been noted with this franchise and others that people are too quick to dismiss or deride media for this demographic. As it stands, it makes sense that since the novels are a young adult drama, there is rather heavy focus on youthful/teen romance in the show.

Maybe I'm just too old for teenage style romance, but what I appreciated most about Shadow and Bone is that as ew0k mentioned, the setting is unique and interesting, the production value is great, so the show is beautiful and has lots of fun and intriguing moments. All the actors are ridiculously good looking, so maybe it's not that unbelievable that they're all so horny all the time.

I also thought the combat scenes were very well done, though most of the show's focus isn't on this. My favorite characters were of course the Crows. Kaz and the gang really did it for me right from the start.

Will definitely be looking forward to season two!
