Music listening

I like and dislike Spotify. When I was young I thought it would be cool if there was a way to pay a little to listen, instead of a lot to own. It made a hole in my pocket to buy an album I might not like. Eventually, technology caught up with me! I like the freedom to try things. I like the chance to go back and find things from the past that I missed, and the chance to hear lots of random new things. Today I came across the Secret Sisters who do a good job of harmonising two voices. And the best song from the last few years is The Spot by Your Smith. Obviously, you might disagree.

I dislike Spotify because...

Their phone app is next to useless. Why did they disable features that are available on other platforms? My TV has a better Spotify player than my phone. OK, I know why they did it - money.
The advertising is often awful. I can listen to commercial radio and the adverts are only mildly annoying. But on Spotify I get the same two or three ads over and over again. Sometimes the same one plays twice in a row. I know that they're targeting ads (my kids get very different ads to me) but why do they think I like gambling?? The thing that I get most Spotify adverts for is... Spotfy. Er, I'm already listening.

I have a stupid music listening thing going. I came across the NME list of 500 best albums. It seemed like I'd find some new things I'd like. I've listened to 64 albums. Seems like a lot, but there's an awful lot to go. Naturally I'm blogging about this. Otherwise, how would I remember the ones I liked?
