Frances Watkins, 28 Jan
THE HUSBAND of Colette O'Shea, who previously won a national award for
caring for him, has passed away.
Kieran O'Shea, formerly of Ballyvarra, Lisnagry, passed away peacefully
at Milford Care Centre surrounded by his loving family on Friday.
Formerly an employee at Curry's PC World, the 47 year-old had Motor
Neurone Disease and frontal lobe dementia.
Colette advocated tirelessly for her husband and was his voice as they
navigated the pain, stress and financial hardship associated with a
progressive life-limiting condition.
When coupled with dementia, Motor Neurone Disease causes deterioration
in a person's behaviour, personality and memory.
Colette won the Netwatch Family Carer of the Year at a national award
ceremony in 2022, for caring for Kieran and their son Luke who has
Crohn's Disease.
Last year, Colette was also named Limerick Person of the Month last
year, with Kieran and their children standing proudly by her side.
