Introduction

Welp, if I want to populate this Gemlog, may as well write my first entry. So, my name is CyberCat2000, but you can also call me by my usual online handle Starstorm_X1! Why CyberCat2000? Well, I kind of wanted a handle on the "new old web" that would sound fitting.

Anyways, my biggest interest is technology. While I follow modern stuff, my main focus is on vintage tech! Whether it's an old computer, game console, or some weird gadget, I'm interested in tech that can be considered "old" by most people's standards. Other interests of mine include cars, science, gaming, animals, and animation.

I never really held much of an interest in social media. I've posted on a few sites (most notably Mastodon), and I frequent Discord, but other than that, I honestly prefer the coziness of personal websites. Hence why I made a NeoCities page and this Gemini capsule. This Gemini capsule is kind of an extension of my website dedicated to a "Gemlog" where I can post my random thoughts. (I may mirror it on the NeoCities page for convinience...) If I get into creative writing, I might also post my writings here!

"But wait", you ask, "why write on a obscure protocol and not your NeoCities page?" Well, this is mostly for my amusement. And also because Gemini is relatively new, so I might see some new and curious people here.

Anyways, from what I've seen, the beauty of Gemini lies within its simplicity. In terms of viewing, it's text-only, meaning it takes up minimal bandwidth. (You can also view it on a terminal for extra retro points!) In terms of writing, it's simple; you can draft on a mobile device on a whim (and maybe even upload if you have the right software.). Some would say it's too simple, admittedly, hence why my primary presence will probably be on NeoCities (or some other webhost).

With all this out of the way, hope you enjoy this Gemlog!
