Xenocide's key-disk copy protection was incompatible with the
ROM 3 (which you mentioned owning). It got confused and thought
you had an illegal copy of the disk inserted, when in fact you
were booting the original.

The solution is simple, you must remove the copy protection
and it will then run on the ROM 3 (plus as a bonus, it will not
ask for the disk to be inserted on the ROM 01, making it hard-
disk friendly).

Ah, it seems in my dusty archives of disks, I still have the a
listing of the bytes you need to change. Just use Copy II Plus,
ProSel-16's Block Warden or similar to sector edit them in:

BLK BYTE FROM TO
-----------------------------------
$7 $150 22 6F 09 00 AF 6F 09 00
      $154 90 0C 80 0C
$44 $E2 00 00 46 1E
      $E7 A9 00 00 A9 46 1E
$45 $0B 22 6F 09 00 AF 6F 09 00
      $0F 90 0C 80 0C
$4B 15F F0 01 06 EA EA EA
$62 $172 22 04 00 00 AF 04 00 00
