There's also a second way to look at ideology.
It's not an attempt to be neutral, but to remain as dettached as possible from ideology, not to hold that as a position itself, nor to emmit "impartial" statements or create theories. Just for the benefits that brings to one's wellbeing or to their critique of ideology.
It's not a permanent, fixed dogma. It's also not a "neutral" stance that never goes back and takes a position within ideology.
It's different in that it proposes no ideology or system to replace, temporarily or permanently, the ideology being opposed. It attacks ideologues directly.
The worst of ideology is not in meaningless statements that serve only as examples in the writings of professional philosophers and academics. It's when we must make difficult decisions, or they are made on our behalf, and all that guides this decision making is ideology.
