About the Christmas Music - GS MINIVAMPS - 94 disk (CMGSMV94.SDK) From: Charles T. (Dr. Tom) Turley, Ph.D. Cofounder - Executive Coordinator - 1WSW Graphic Artist - Virtual Audio Music/Sound Designer (Researcher Scientist - disabled and retired) Age 49 115 Santa Clara St. Brisbane, CA., 94005 USA Voice Tel. (415) 468-1609 Internet - 3D5D1WSW@Calon.com GEnie - C.TURLEY2 Distribution: World The first thing you should be made aware of is: This disk is self-booting, with a series of overlayed 320 SHR (256 color) boot pictures and a program picture. When you see a picture on screen and the disk drive light goes off, press the return key to continue with the load and play of the music. This disk is FreeWare. Its updates of the original public domain music files, graphics, programs and their files, are Copyright (c) 1994 by 1WSW and OSRL. If you don't take the time to read this file thoroughly, you'll miss out on many updated options that vary the music, soundscapes, waveforms, channel phase shifts, with other special stereo and dimensional audio effects, available. BE SURE TO READ THE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS, THAT ARE OUTLINED BELOW ! This (NO TOOLS) ProDOS 8 disk, is for use only as, a self-booting (DMA - Fast RAM Virtual Memory) (AUTO-LOAD and AUTO-PLAY) GS MINIVAMPS - JukeBox disk. It must remain as specific disk based software. You can't launch and play these GS MINIVAMPS music modules, via the basic JukeBox program from a hard drive, RAM drive or any other device using the GS/OS finder for launch. Before you access any such data/program storage device, after you have finished using this disk, it's essential that you do a complete reboot, using; Apple, Control and Reset keys together. Updates, with enhancements, program improvement designs, sound presentation processing, upgrades to the sound/samples and waveforms were made, during the course of the past 2 years, by 1WSW and OSRL. The music was digitally remastered and saved from the original public domain integer basic files, designed in 1986, by MDIdeas. The original concept of the files, with the program to present and play them, were originally developed and released as public domain in 1986, also from MDIdeas. The music, waveform file and sounds, digitally remastered, were loop processed with the Hughes Sound Retriever AK-500 (A HIGH DEFINITION 3-D AUDIO SOUND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM) using the SRS technology. They were processed, recorded and saved, using 'IN-HOUSE' OSRL privy software and hardware, along with the SoundMeister Stereo digitizer card, Sound Ace GS v2.2 and DigitalSessions. The GS MINIVAMPS music modules are designed to allow unique soundscape dimensional enhancements to present both; binaural and bineural stereo audio special effects, with any one of the 12 waveform designs. To hear these unique binaural and bineural stereo audio special effects and all of the enhancements of the soundscape, you'll need to have a IIgs stereo card (SoundMeister - suggested), a full size, (over the ears) set of full range 20 Hz to 20 KHz headphones (4 Hz to 25 KHz - electrostatic suggested) , a good stereo amplifier system (Surround Sound support - suggested), an acute sense of hearing ranges and an open mind. This MINIVAMPS disk, its graphics, JukeBox basic program, program files and the disk design, with its updated and upgraded re-release of past versions, released from 1990 to 1992, are copyright (c) 1994 by 1WSW and OSRL. This MINIVAMPS disk is FreeWare. Please copy it and pass it on to anybody that wants it. Please make sure to distribute this disk, as it is and only pack it as an 800k disk archive - SDK file, when you transmit it on-line. Special Instructions The disk boots, with an 'INTRO BOOT PICTURE', defaults to the 1st waveform, (press return to accept the default waveform and the first Christmas song, in the CHRISTMAS folder, will start to play) or having 12 pre-designed waveforms to select from, you can alternately press the 'RIGHT ARROW' key, one time and/or repeat this, to progress thru all 12 waveforms, then press the return key to start the song plays. If you select an alternative to the 1st default 'WAVEFORM', after you progress, to any of the 2nd thru 12th, when you are ready to use any of them, as selected, press the return key, to start the GS MINIVAMPS JukeBox and play the Christmas music. There are 24 'CLASSIC' Christmas songs, all listed by their title, in the 'CHRISTMAS' folder. The JukeBox program plays each of them, one after the other, then loop repeats the process. You can skip the current song and proceed to the next one, by pressing the 'esc' key. You can do this over and over, if you wish to progress thru all 24 of the Christmas songs. If you wish to see the structures for each of the 12 selectable waveforms available for you to use, you can do so, by following these steps. (1) Press the control and reset keys together. (2) type the word, bye, then press the return key. (3) Select and launch the Basic.System file, from the screen selector menu. You will be presented with a DHR graphic screen, that displays the 1st default waveform. You can then move thru all 12 waveforms available for use, by pressing the right arrow key to proceed forward from 1 to 12, to view the form of each. You can also use the left arrow key, to proceed back from 12 to 1. Both of the right or left arrow keys will move you to the left or right for selecting any of these 12 waveforms, in a right/left loop. Each waveform is either; one of the basic waveforms or combinations and alterations of them. Each of these 12 waveforms, as selected, will give varied instrument combinations, sample banks and sounds, when the Christmas songs play. To control the songs volume (up or down) use the arrow keys, as the song plays. To pan the stereo soundscapes of the song, vertical/horizontal, with any degree or form of soundscape progression, hold down the mouse button and move the mouse in the directions and/or forms, you want the soundscapes to pan. You can do this to a limited degree, with volume increments and decrements included, by using the keys in multiple combinations, on the keypad. But, the mouse is the best, for complete and easy soundscape pan movements, without changing any volume. For the real adventuring audiophiles, try varied combinations of the follow keys, on the keyboard, in single, and/or combinations; control and any key or number, shift and same, option key and any key or number, shift and same, apple key and any key or number, shift and same. There are many unique audio, tempo, etc., effects available, using and exploring key combinations. Give them all a try, if you wish. By using the option-control-esc keys, to enter your control panel, you will freeze the play and current sound. You can select 'alternate display' option, then exit the control panel and return to the song play progression, giving a noticeable audio variation and alteration in tempo/timing effects. You can also repeat this over and over, for progressive tempo/timing changes. Using all of the above techniques, you have complete X-Y-Z stereo soundscape panning abilities. Combining all of these options with any or all of the 12 different selectable waveforms, should give you and endless ability to present variations with all of the songs, as you play them. Both PINK and WHITE background noise generators, with random modulation have been added, to give both depth and dimensionality to the soundscapes, as the songs play. If you have any questions or comments, please address them to me personally, as noted above, via; e-mail, snail mail or voice phone.
