< for the love of post resurrection
I listened through "I Want to be Close to You" while I mended my coat tonight. You have a lovely voice, and the sound quality really isn't that bad to an untrained ear in spite the circumstances...I hear worse from other single-person productions pretty frequently.
I liked From the Beginning and Letting Go best, of the songs that I listened to. Do you have the lyrics written down anywhere?
"Letting Go" is about the people and experiences therewith subsequent to having landed a particular single (i.e. no roommate) dorm room in college, on a floor of what I'm remembering to be 10 people - written on the verge of leaving not just that room/dorm, but that university and college life altogether:
=== Letting Go === a year ago, not long away I moved into a room one of my own not much to show, nor much to say and yet this very room became my home it all seemed very matter of fact the future at that point had not been shown but slowly it revealed itself through people likes of which I've never known a life of moments, not one dull a life of fullness lay before my eyes smoke and drink and song and walk yet even heartful talk to my surprise I've always been the one whose many letters never seemed to bring replies but suddenly I find myself accepted for myself and not for lies the end is really here for me so listen all of you before I go thank you for the time you spent the feelings shared along with what you know thank you for the laughs and tears the good times and the bad the high and low and as a group for taking time and showing me the art of letting go oh oh oh oh oh
Thank you for the kind words!
I probably have the lyrics somewhere. Maybe. :-) Or I'll transcribe.
Your mentioning "From the Beginning" reminded me a few are covers, and I really should mark them as such. "From the Beginning" is by "Emerson, Lake, and Palmer". Loved it as a kid/teen, and in college sat down with another guy in a dorm stairwell to play it endlessly until we could each sing and play guitar parts simultaneously.
(And if you believe it was mostly that instead of mostly to attract the desirable (to us) gender, I've some proverbial swamp land for sale as well.... ;-) )
I wish I could remember who "I Want to be Close to You" was about. I'll have to dig for possible notes. It was likely a Korean coworker I fancied in the late 1980s... but as you can see, it was a couple, three, THIRTY-EFFING-SOME years ago, so.... :-)
