02 December 2021 - Easily Tickled

This week has had a few instances where I have ended up giggling to
myself. The first was due to my brother responding to my doing a
specific volunteering role. He said that my stranger danger campaign
was why I got the new role. Then there was a gif from Alan Partridge.
It is Alan in an old school gym with a rounders bat which is swung at
a child dressed up as a kangaroo. A caption appears saying 'WHACK'.
This kept me giggling for a whole day and almost at random. It is a
gloriously silly gif and the context in which it was sent just helps.

As part of leading a new team, I have had to put some accountability
slides together. Part of this involved adding pictures of the team.
All of my work photos are at least 5 years old and so lack my 4 year
old beard. Instead of uploading a personal photo, I decided to
scribble a beard on with Paint. It is wonderfully daft with the wrong
shade of brown. That has made me giggle all day. It is such a stupid
thing but still has this effect.

The final thing which has made me giggle is being santa. I have been
asked as a santa of last resort to help a friend out. He is a head
teacher at a primary school and his regular has suffered a heart
attack. As a result my friend went to the only fat man with a beard he
knows. The thought of playing santa really does make me laugh. I have
reached that age where people no longer ask for ID when I buy alcohol
and instead ask me to be santa for their event. I have no grey or
greying hair beyond the odd long and wirey hairs in my right eye brow.
I have no idea how I will pull this off but my friend is providing the
suit as well as some drinks. One good thing about covid is that I do
not have to have children sitting on my knee. The idea of being asked
keeps me laughing. It probably will until I am face to face with the
children. Then the fear will set in.

Why this has been a giggly week I do not know. However, it is a nice
change and certainly amuses me greatly. Time to practise my ho ho ho!
