it's almost midnight, so here's an entry for THE Midnight

Such, a fxxxing writing kick this afternoon and evening. I had ONE soda and TWO cups of coffee, and that gave me the energy to pump out several thousand words of random observances and opinionation (word?) across two blogs and multiple blog posts. I get like this from time to time - unable (or unwilling) to censor or filter what I am thinking from manifesting itself into one writing form or another.

But tonight, I feel "on-point". Like I see "where" I am in the world, and "what" I am doing with it (life) all. None of it is tangible or fungible, nor can I articulate it properly. It is just *there* I am "approving" of it.

But no one wants to read a blog entry about a random individual's contentment of/within themselves. Instead, I will remark on something that IS real.

Earlier tonight, I hammered out an e-mail to someone I've long admired on the WWW. Not in a personal or romantic way (no, I am not a creep), but someone who has a world view I have always respected, and I have kept up with their "content", and videos, and entries for near a decade at this point. We had exchanged some pleasantries on Twitter years back, but it has BEEN years since I had a Twitter account, so I wanted to make my presence known via e-mail, and establish a form of contact, because, as I mentioned, I respect his world view and "take" on things immensely, and have a "kinship with the content", if not with the person themself (because how do *I* know what the dude is really like? Might be some serial killer!).

And from what I've wrote here, I recall an exchange I had with an individual on Write.as about "how they discover interesting people on the Internet", and I DO have a link but have no clue if Markdown works here on The Midnight or not, because I have never tried it, so here is the direct link for anyone who cares to click it - https://journal.paoloamoroso.com/how-i-discover-content-from-interesting-people - but, the gist is, this person (the blog author) will click around and find amusing links on the WWW, and visit their "About" page or/and their blogroll, and see their Github, and other sites that may contain their "work", their "content", etc., and I kind of mentioned on Remark.as that I, too, do likewise and click through some (if not MOST) individuals profiles and pages at one time or another to see "what's what", and see if I need to add them to my RSS reader or blogroll or both.

To me, it's "how stuff gets done" on the small/indie Web. There is no "sitting back and waiting for the right RT to come your way", no standard one-click following list to see someone's opinions and quips - one has to "seek out" and manually discover the friends and kinfolk of their community. OR, sometimes other people will seek YOU out - organically, like a connection "meant" to happen.

So, anyway, I hope everyone is keeping themselves busy/happy this (near) midnight. And if Bartender has time to pour me a tall glass of water to dilute this caffeine, it would be appreciated. And I wish you all the best :)

I've been doing a lot of "click around and find amusing links" in gemini, gopher, and web spaces of late, and what I feel I mostly found (or is it "interpreted as having found"?) was a sort of profound loneliness to which links give a dubious sense of connectedness, but most of the content (nobody being more guilty of what I'm about to say than yours-somewhat-truly..) is what Beatle George was getting at in his glorious

Not that such content can't be interesting, for it most certainly often is. But eventually the aforementioned loneliness became an invisible hashtag of sorts, such that one of the first things coming to mind when encountering another such instantiation is much closer to "Oh, Jesus... here we go again... <leverage the "back" keyboard shortcut>" than "Oh, wow, what an interesting person describing fascinating things from their perspective!"

Maybe it's just (I) me (mine)? :-) But I'll take comments against inline quoted content over links any day. I mean, not that they're necessarily accomplishing the same thing. I'm just saying I'd rather witness - and possibly become involved in - interaction than jump from one isolation offering to another.

Perhaps hyper-jaded song spoof lyrics (of the aforementioned) drive $HOME the point?
