I've semi-recently realised something:

there are multiple (incomplete, but somewhat functional) Minecraft reimplementations/Minecraft-compatibles out there. multiple.

there is a timeline somewhere out there where the masses have done a FLOSS takeover of Minecraft and I want to be part of it.

~pseudoriemann: oop, might've worded myself a little clumsily; I meant implementations that are compatible with the Minecraft network protocol/will connect to normal Minecraft servers.

There's a list here: https://wiki.vg/Client_List .

Sort by game graphics, and you're off to the races.

I don't think any of them have feature-parity with the real deal (save for TrueCraft, maybe, but that's intentionally an old version), but the existence and amount of 'em is seriously impressive nonetheless. · 8 months ago
