Is there a gemini software that provides a platform for people to create their own capsules without much knowledge? Basically way for peple to create accounts/sites/gemlogs from within gemini browser? I would like to host something for other to make suer of in an easy way not involving ssh etc.

@mntn No, I'm not, but I haven't looked either. Went straight for self-hosting myself. · 1 year ago
@lykso That looks like a great way to handle it, and as a common protocol it would avoid locking users into a single client. Are you aware of any hosts that offer capsule hosting with Titan support? · 1 year ago
@mntn Titan seems like it'd be a good choice for such a thing. Could support other protocols as well, but Titan's built for the purpose of publishing in the gemiverse.

Interesting idea. One of the "thicker" Gemini clients could implement built-in capsule authoring and hosting on some service. Authoring and design could be done over some other protocol for an easier experience. This would be great for both new and casual users! · 1 year ago
I came up with this UI experiment a while back:
gemini://gamma.lyk.so/
It lets you create a gemtext page of arbitrary length from within a gemini browser. One page per identity, since this was just a UI experiment.
Here's a simple page I built using it:

The source code for the UI experiment is here:

Might be a good starting place for building something, if you like the idea. · 1 year ago
Gemini really isn't set up for building applications, that's actually one of its design goals. Station is really pushing it in terms of what you are able to do. You have places like midnight.pub that straddles gemini and HTTP and allows publishing through HTTP but reading through gemini I suppose. I think that's a good model. · 1 year ago
Spanish speakers may take a look at gemini://reisub.nsupdate.info
I recommend to learn and self-hosting your own capsule though... · 1 year ago
Flounder (gemini://admin.flounder.online/) and smolpub (gemini://smol.pub/) come to mind. I know there's one more I'm forgetting as well. · 1 year ago
