This is a wordlog for the SpellBinding puzzle (in which you construct words using the specified letters; each word must contain the anchor letter).
Yesterday's words:
ALAS ALMS ALSO AMASS LASS LASSO LOSS MASS MOSS OOPS PASS PLASM PLASMA PSALM SALAAM SALSA SAMOSA SASS SLALOM SLAM SLAP SLOOP SLOP SMALL SMALLPOX SOAP SOLO SOMA SPAM SPASM SPOOL
Pangrams: SMALLPOX
Missed: SPALL
I found this to be a pleasant puzzle, and SMALLPOX is nice and scary. I found out that the my old SMALLPOX vaccine may not be a life-long thing, and no one is being vaccinated because, you know, it's eradicated except for a bunch of secret government labs. That's comforting!
In 2014, CDC reported that 6 vials of smallpox virus were forgotten in a corner of a storage room at FDA. Experts emphasized that the mistake was not recent, but dates back to 1972. That is really comforting.
Jus a month prior, 80 CDC employees were exposed to anthrax in what NBC news refers to as an embarrassing blunder. You see, CDC had been 'preparing an especially dangerous strain of the bacteria for use in two lower-security CDC labs'. Apparently they thought the bacteria 'had been inactivated, making it safe to handle'. But a week later someone noticed a lab dish with live, growing anthrax, and realized the mistake. WTF.
I am at a loss for words.
Another day.
