Do Optimists live longer? The article stated that being an optimist is beneficail towards your health. Tests have shown that cancer has been found in more people who are pessimists then the optimist. I don't know if this is coincidental or a real fact. The article compares "Joe" and "Frank" two war veterans from World War One and how both have negative memories of the war and military life in general, however Frank is a pessimist, and since the war he has been to the doctor many more times then Joe, and it has been the same case in other 'optimist-pessimist' comparisons... A Study On Hypnosis The qualities that make a succesful hynotist are very minimal. All it takes is a good tecnique. Some people arent able to be hypnotized, however highly hypnotizable people are able to set aside ordinary reality. It is also said that while being in the state of hypnotzm, it is possible to use the left hemisphere of your brain as much as the right side of yur brain which controls all the major functions such as muscles, spacial perception, and general imagination. Right Brain Blues This artical was very intersting. It stated that the right side of the brain holds our depression. Happiness and "fighting-power" find their hime in the left brain. The right brain generallly houses a;; the negative feelings such as wariness, depression, and anxiety. Also it was noted that anesthetizing the left brain before nuerological surgery left the patient depressed, and when they put the right brain to sleep the patient felt euphoric.. Stress for Success This article explains how stress can affect athletic events. I found it to be a little rediculous because it wants you (as a coach) to focus on stress , keep a stress log, and massage eachother as to release tension, Personally this was the worst article in my study. Major Personality Study Finds that Traits are Mostly Genetic A study of 350 pairs of twins was made, the twins all brought up in different inviroments, families, and schools. It showed that personality traits where genetic, because most of the twins compared by the doctors noticed that even though the way they dressed and talked ect, is all enviromental, however traits such as : Leadership, braveness, aggression ect, where all basically the same. These theories were brought about after a week of extensive testing. Most of the twins in the experiment where brought together for the first time during these tests. What I Thought of my Study Topic I enjoyed my study on pyscology. I have been in a few classes where it has been discussed. As a science I think it to be the most intersting topic pertaining to humans'. As the years progress we are getting closer and closer to finding out what our brains' really are, and how they work and how to use it to the fullest extent, however I predict that to be after my life time. I learned many things during my course of study, I learned the mental affects of genticson peopel. It is also impostant to have the desire to be healthy and have a positive out look outlook on life . Corrally you will be happier. Happiness is healthy, being healthy , you live longer. After studying pyscology a little deeper then I ever had before I would also like to add that I did a study on pictures, which is very important in the way you think, subconscientously, you don't realize what is going on menatlly with your self, however when you draw a picture it all comes out, even though you still dont know it until the picture is analyzed. Hypnotizm does the same thing, however you don't rember what went on during that specific time of the trance. In the mean time , everything you do , or that goes on in your life, it is stored in your brain, the best VCR on the market !
