at one time I became lost in the flame of a candle
some meditational destiny escaping me, fleet and quiet
leaving only husk and I and flame, 'til even I was gone
fan of an unnamed machine whirring back like a drone
misheard as rain, within transition, you are within transition
and I sought it not, hunting only peace beyond the blade of motion
disquiet within giving way to nothing
seek and ye shall not find, there is nothing to be found within
everything been has been, all within a chordal structure, mental malady
strummed by happenstance, the rubbing of a polished bowl
and I came upon the castle of kor'a'ahn'soon, great lord was he
ninety years beyond my prime, moving a sword of paper as though it were his wing
outside time, old fart's peace on his face, tranquility of mid-mind form
ah, and what wings had I when he drove the blade home,
riven to a tree who's flowers bloomed
jasmine by the river
no, there is nothing within beyond Jung, and his children howl louder than I knew
rainstorm alive under skin, relic of memory, of mastery fading
leaving only transition's screaming vacancy, self's haunted interior
for the castle came and went like a heartbeat, here, gone, here, and slid away again
less present each round, ever closer to purity, a tender gray of scent and down
when transition of self bottoms, when vast empty becomes vast and vast alone
only then does universe pour in, does the candle burn down, does the void love living
and the candle burns down
and the candle burns down
fan still running, undertone, a scent of jasmine fills my room
