Onion Skins

in the clumsy silence
of an autumn ��s wee hours
in the bin to higher powers
go the wastes of a modern era
and onion skins
always onion skins
silence from the bin
well behaved as one would ken
then, on the way to curbside wait
begins disquiet
a ruckus
yea, a raucous grunting
from deep within the rubbish
shunting bits of shell aside
some packing tape
and onion skins
always onion skins
one takes this sort of thing in stride
when giving raccoons garbage rides
