at 0300, I walk in on the kittens in the kitchen
discussing static and elastic fluid dynamics
largely in the context of braking systems and lift mechanisms
further in the context of how this affects human food production
where distribution of powdered kitten milk dreams
relies heavily upon low pressure evaporative sprayer assemblies
weary beyond words, I look up from arguing with my instant coffee
visions of oat and banana milk �� the latter an unspeakable discount horror
dancing in my head
they �� make milk �� from kittens
a question, intoned as a statement
of deepest doubt
fluffiest fluffness of grey looks up at me
seriously fluffs itself in utter cuteness
and says meow three times, evenly spaced
it ��s only wandering back up the stairs
triple black delight in hand
I realize
I don ��t have kittens
I also don ��t have instant coffee
