Sleeping Quarters
November 27, 2021
when the hills came down upon us
it was more sigh than subsidence
old growth gone to homes
charcoal burners burrowing grooves
sheep year upon year, laying in hooves
groves, captured to mast and harbor
sweet water running browner
more sigh than subsidence
relaxing into sadness, giving in
welcoming us once again
in resignation
rest in redemption
scarred town to sacred absence
regrown a thousand years
