December 9, 2021
let us sip then from the well
by bending forward sweet until
passing lips, passing whiles
savored all the while, passing
sweep behind us in their massing
deeper still, crushed velvet deeper
brushing sweet to stony tremble
passing fleet where mist and bramble
pass us deeper still, becalmed
all speed gone to blending swift
contours textured into cliff
slipping down that humid wall
whetting lips, ancestors �� handprints
furred upon plush granite
garnet constellations �� quills
pricking eye in passing
passing steeper sills observer
peated in their lashings
holding forth at willing chill
flecks in heat ��s own windows
contrasting to sweet rushes
playing over, overhill
tilled under in the crushes
somehow breathing still
lathered without labor
forever starts own furthest
handprints after fore before
toasting one ��s own passage
