at four, I learned my grandfather was a monster
an osteopath, on death he bequeathed his bones to my father
whereupon they were left in the barn, carefully stored
large sealed chest, hard to pick, and oiled cloth around steel boxes
with a proper note, long form, name, occupation, bones thereof
so very many bones
a glorious shambling horror
capable of wielding no less than seven swords
or healing the descending sore of New York ��s lonely nights
three massages and a spare hand for a drink
all one, all done, efficient
re-assembly took me days
hidden away in the milk-shed loft
laying in runes
how do I get so many bones
how do I hide them when not alone
how do I gain a path to freedom
what is the value of human
when all is stone
in rattles, in clatters, in assonance
science, science, science
alone
