muscle cars were bad enough
constantly growling and showing their teeth
brushing up against their lesser peers
casually shouldering aside those softer drinkers
clearing space at the watering holes
but it ��s the new electric beasts
softly on approach, quick to evoke
disbelief in mortal things
breathless, undrinking, unending
we ��ve not yet learned to fear
hiding from what we sense coming
not noticing the hunger already here
