Those Hallowed Halls

my research into botany got me riled up
from spices on to medicine, brewing savory insights
no questions one might not investigate, and document aside
filling archive after archive as the years have slid on by
now ancient, in the mail comes invitation, scholarship
from creature on to horticulture, repair that learning sear
well-aged I may be, but having verified no cost
with access to libraries on site, and payment for written lots
packed in the van go all my works, and backups scanned
that I might at need remote, I join that university secret
solar panels in the back, mini-servers on their racks
then ��cross the states, a retirement trip �� for science
they say I ��m no magical girl at the gate, but worry not
sometimes the errors add up, and you ��ve made the trip
do you mind the other gender sir, and �� ah, the wand, it likes you
bones �� long aches foreshortened, years reduced to vast energy
if you ��d be so kind, in after hours, we ��ve a computer you might mind
but the days are yours in classes, try these glasses
seventy-eight long years aside, and the magical language Latin
a smattering of Greek, some middle English at its peak
six classes, four days a week to fancy, and patterns
ah, the joyous patterns, a method to the madness then
that we might analyze in science-rheumed eyes
find it glorious, bright, new, and well-articulate
sure, moving the van to my office �� why not, a wave of wand
antiquated PC replaced with modern storage racks, scanners
a standard battery of computational wonders, output to thin foil
that the silver archives might at last benefit from well-researched
well-documented, well-tended love, and best beloved that archivist
of my age equally redacted �� wide eyes, small mouth, and thunder
trading towers and traditions for similar, discovering early
every archival addition available to one ��s grimoire once granted pass
from beta and early access to those things of lore claimed undocumented
non-withstanding that roll from scanner to rapid shooting automation
an ageless desire for that thing most sacrosanct, those hushed precincts
wand to page, where ageless children plunder treasure unending
now, familiar by my side, sometimes broom, and sometimes van
